I Beat Anorexia!

So Far

So far in my book Valentino is still being robbed. The robbers have been holding him hostage with a pistol, and gathering all his belongings and putting them in a room. Meanwhile, a police officer has been standing nearby and has been standing outside, unaware of what's going on inside the house. The robbers are waiting to leave because they suspect the police officer knows what's going on, and is waiting to ambush the robbers. After a while, the robbers hit Valentino with their pistol and knocked him unconscious.

So far, I'm at page 30 or so in What is the What. The beginning has actually been pretty intesting. The main character, Valentino is being robbed while he reminisces about his previous experiences in Africa and in the United States.

What is the What

For my outside reading book, I chose What is the What. This book is written by Dave Eggers, an American author, who translated and retold the story of Valentino Achak Deng, an African man who was a refugee of the Sudanese civil war. I chose this book because it looked like it had an exciting plot and because the helpful employees at Borders recommended the book to me.
